In September 2010, Shenandoah Forum published and sent a copy of The Shenandoah County Sentinel to every household in Shenandoah County.  We felt it was important that all residents have the opportunity to understand the proposed changes to the county's zoning and subdivision ordinances, as outlined in the Rural Areas Plan.

For more than five years, a group of Shenandoah County residents and elected officials have been studying ways to best implement the growth and development goals stated in the county's comprehensive plan.  The Shenandoah County Sentinel is our attempt to explain the proposed Rural Areas Plan -- designed to support the farm sector, provide flexibility to landowners, secure long-term savings for county taxpayers and to enhance the quality of life for all residents -- all goals of the Shenandoah County Comprehensive Plan.
